Happy November 5th!!

Hey all! I believe I'm finally free of the cold (I still have a few little sniffles here and there, but that's all thankfully!) so now I can get back to writing! It's crazy because I feel better on such an important day in history: November 5th!

Now, I know maybe in England this isn't such a great holiday to commemorate (after all, it was an idea to blow up the House of Lords and assassinate one monarch to replace with a Catholic head-of-state -- YIKES!) but it proved that when pushed enough, the people of any country will revolt - and may possibly succeed. Yes, the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 was foiled, but it left behind a legacy of revolt and...well...treason. The US of A was basically founded upon that ideal, and as a Patriot, I heart revolution!
Truthfully, I would have had no idea that this holiday  ever existed if it wasn't for the comic by Alan Moore (and illustrated by David Loyd, my hero) and the movie, V for Vendetta. As the nursery rhyme goes:
Remember, remember the Fifth of November, the Gunpowder Treason and Plot. I know of no reason why the Gunpowder Treason should ever be forgot.
Anyway, this post may seem silly, but in a time when nationalism in not just my country (the USA) but in many countries is in full swing, I feel like it's important to remind people that showing your support (or your irritation) SHOULD be done.  How else will a leader or a group of leaders know how you're feeling unless you speak up and say something about it? Have a voice and a say and support what YOU think is RIGHT. Whether it's the Occupy movement or the Tea Party, show your support and be a part of something bigger than yourself.
Guy Fawkes and the other participants of the plot are historical revolutionists, that much is certain. Do I agree with blowing up an entire part of government to prove a point? Not exactly. But do I agree with standing up for what you believe in? ABSOLUTELY.
